I've created a challenge where I will post about all things #counselling
Week 1 – The Heart of Counselling 💛
1: Introduce yourself – share your counselling approach & what person-centred means to you.
Hi, I'm Abi. Before training as a counsellor, I worked as a Mental Health Advisor, where I learned that many people simply want to be heard. This continues to shape my approach, which values empathy, authenticity, and acceptance. I aim to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and free to explore their experiences at their own pace.
I believe people are not problems to be fixed but individuals with the capacity for growth and self-understanding. My role is to be alongside clients as they build self-awareness, develop trust, and move toward their own goals. Drawing on my background in Psychology, I take a holistic approach, integrating emotional support with psychoeducation and practical tools where appropriate. Above all, I see counselling as a collaborative, human process that nurtures change through understanding and acceptance 🌻
