ABOUT ME
Why 'Klewes'?
Hello, I'm Abi and I provide counselling and mental health support for young people and adults. At a time where the need is so high, and the waiting lists for talking therapies are so long, I hope I can reach some people when they need it. Having experienced various forms of counselling, I appreciate that it can be confusing to know what is going to feel 'right' for you. For this reason, I offer a discounted initial session where you can check you feel comfortable with me:
-Face-to-face sessions in Hayle (aged 13+) Mon-Sat, with a focus on Fridays
-Walk-and-talk outdoor counselling in Helston (locations in Cornwall can be discussed upon enquiry) (aged 16+) Monday-Thursday & weekends
-Email and online/phone sessions anywhere (aged 18+) Monday-Thursday & weekends
If you tried one way of working together, and it didn't feel right, we could always try another! I always keep fidget tools handy, and you are welcome to make use of the art materials supplied as we chat, as if you are anything like me, sometimes it can be easier to open up while busy doodling/ drawing/ colouring!
Before qualifying as a Person-centred counsellor, I worked as a Mental Health Advisor, where I learned that many people simply want to be deeply listened to. In Cornish, 'klewes' means to 'hear, feel, sense & perceive' which captures my aim: to create a therapeutic space where clients feel seen and heard and have full permission to feel your feelings. My approach to helping clients improve their mental health and well-being values empathy, authenticity, and acceptance. This means that all parts of you are welcome, even if it feels messy! I will show up as my human self, and connect with you while we navigate how counselling can be most useful for you.
Our work together would be led by you (i.e. frequency of sessions) and you are free to explore your feelings and experiences at your own pace.
My role is to be alongside you as you build self-awareness, self-compassion and self-understanding, and move toward your own goals. Drawing on my background in Psychology, I take a holistic approach, integrating emotional support with psychoeducation and practical tools where appropriate.
As a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) registered practitioner, I am dedicated to providing compassionate support to individuals facing a variety of challenges.

I am insured and attend regular supervision sessions. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
I have written a blog about Person-Centred Counselling for Cornwall Counselling Directory, click below to read.
